Podcast 13: Cold and Flu Season

           I hope everyone had a great holiday season, but, now that its is over, we’ve firmly entered the next stage of Winter, Cold and Flu Season! Cold and flu season can be as uncomfortable as the holiday season for most of us. We’ve all experienced multiple days in bed, or on the couch, sniffling and sneezing our way through endless boxes of tissues. In today’s podcast, we’re going to talk about a few of things we do at our house when one of us is feeling under the weather. Disclaimer, this advice is not meant to be a substitute for going to your doctor or alternative health care provider, it can be used as an adjunct to any advice you’re given by your provider of choice.
            The two main supplements that we utilize are called Congaplex and Immuplex, made by the vitamin company Standard Process (https://www.standardprocess.com). As we’ve mentioned many times, Standard Process is our go-to vitamin supplement company. Adding to this protocol, we also recommend two essential oils to further support the immune system and help alleviate symptoms. The two essential oils we recommend are: OnGuard and Breathe. OnGuard and Breathe are produced by a company called doTERRA (www.doTERRA.com).
Congaplex: Congaplex is Standard Process’ primary product to help support your body as it fights off colds, flu, congestion, inflammation, and systemic infection. It can be used more frequently in acute situations, and then taken less as you begin to feel better. It contains vitamins A and C, Calcium (which is great support for your immune system), and a supplement to help support your thymus gland, which also plays an important part in your immune system, and in cell-mediated immunity.
Immuplex: Immuplex offers immune system support, as your body responds to both bacterial and viral infections. It combines vitamins A, C, & E with vitamin B12 and Folic Acid, zinc, copper, chromium, iron, and selenium, as well as more support for your thymus gland. Like Congaplex, Immuplex is taken more frequently as you are getting sick, and then taken less as you begin to feel better.
OnGuard:
OnGuard is doTERRA’s proprietary essential oil blend that offers natural, safe, and effective immune support. We recommend taking OnGuard internally, topically, as well as using it in the doTERRA Petal Diffuser. 
Breathe:
Breathe is a proprietary formula containing eight key ingredients. We recommend that Breathe be applied topically and diffused in the doTERRA Petal Diffuser, to help clear airways and minimize seasonal threats.
